Our mission

Meditation, made simple and available to everyone

Federal Way Meditation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We exist to help people let go of the stress, anxiety and accumulated burdens they carry in their minds — through a guided method that anyone can follow, with no experience and no background required.

We are not a studio and we are not selling a lifestyle. Most of the people who walk through our door are tired, carrying something, and have either never meditated or tried it and stopped. Our job is to sit with them and show them what to do, clearly, one step at a time.

What we do

How the center runs

Free consultations

Every first visit is a free 30-minute consultation with a guide, online or in person. No cost and no obligation to continue.

Guided sessions, hourly

One-hour guided sessions start on the hour, every hour we are open — Monday to Friday 9am–9pm and Saturday 9am–3pm.

In person and online

The same session runs at our center in Kent and live on Zoom, so distance does not decide whether you can practice.

Open to everyone

All ages and backgrounds. Chairs are available for anyone who would rather not sit on the floor.

The method

A guided method with seven levels

The meditation taught here was established by Woo Myung in 1996 and is now taught at centers around the world. It is a fully guided method with seven levels, and each level has its own practice.

Rather than asking you to manage or suppress your thoughts, it works by reflection and discarding — looking honestly at what the mind has stored, and letting it go piece by piece.

How the method works

Who guides you

You will not be figuring this out alone

Chami has meditated since 2002 and is an experienced guide who helps you build inner strength through meditation that is easy and enjoyable. She leads the free consultations and the daily sessions, in person and online.

“If I could do it, anyone can. What I am good at is listening, and then being clear: showing you exactly which part of the mind to let go of, and how.”

Our nonprofit status

Where the money goes

Federal Way Meditation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, recognized by the IRS in July 2018. Membership fees are not profit — they go directly to running our meditation programs: keeping the center open and staffed, running guided sessions every hour we are open, hosting sessions live online, and funding what we give away for free.

Every first consultation is free, 30 minutes with a guide and no obligation to join. Our videos explaining the method, the reflection questionnaire and everything we write are open to anyone at no cost and without an email address.
