About
Founder Woo Myung
He established this meditation method in 1996 and has spent the years since teaching it — through books, talks and centers now found around the world.
Who he is
Woo Myung was born in Eui-sung, South Korea. Before he taught anything, he lived an ordinary working life and built a successful business — and, like most people, carried the questions that ordinary success does not answer.
In 1995 he left that life behind and went to Gaya Mountain to look for the answer directly. He describes what followed as discarding the accumulated mind completely, and dates it to January 1996.
What he found, he set out to make teachable. The result is the seven-level method taught here: not something to believe, but a sequence of steps anyone can follow, in the same order, with a guide.
Books, and the rest of it
He has written more than ten books on the mind and human completion, translated into English, Spanish, Japanese, French and Chinese. Several have been bestsellers in Korea, and they are the way most people outside a center first meet the method.
He is also a poet, composer, lyricist, illustrator and calligrapher. The paintings are worth a look even if you never read a word of the books — they say the same thing in fewer strokes.

Here in practice
The same method, taught here since 2004
Federal Way Meditation has been teaching this method for more than twenty years. What is taught at our center, and in every live online session, is the same seven levels taught at centers around the world — the same order, the same steps.
You do not need to read the books, agree with anything in advance, or know the first thing about meditation to begin. A guide takes you through it.
