Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Federal Way Meditation when you use this site, book a session, or join as a member.

HomeTerms of Service

Last updated: 15 August 2026

These terms apply to federalwaymeditation.org and to the classes, consultations and memberships offered by Federal Way Meditation, 3410 S 272nd St, Kent, WA 98032 (“we”, “us”). By using this site or attending a session, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or book with us.

1. Meditation is not medical care

This is the part that matters most, so it goes first.

We teach meditation. We are not doctors, therapists, psychologists or counsellors, and nothing we offer is medical or mental health treatment. Our guides do not diagnose conditions, do not prescribe anything, and do not provide crisis care.

  • Nothing on this site or said in a session is medical advice.
  • Do not stop, start or change any medication or treatment because of something you heard here. Talk to your doctor.
  • If you have a physical or mental health condition, please speak to a qualified professional before beginning, and tell your guide anything that affects your ability to sit or participate safely.
  • If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, do not wait for a session. Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.

Meditation can bring up difficult memories and emotions. For most people this passes and is part of the process, but you are always free to stop, step out, or ask a guide for support.

2. Member acknowledgments

By joining as a member, you agree to the following:

  • I agree to follow the meditation method as guided by a helper, and I will discuss any questions or clarifications about meditation with a helper.
  • I acknowledge that I will benefit from this meditation to the degree I make an earnest effort. The number of hours I sit through classes may not directly result in my progress since the times spent sleeping, daydreaming, or “spacing out” may lengthen the time it takes to pass a level.
  • I shall be respectful to the Center, helpers, volunteers, fellow students, and visitors. This includes refraining from disrupting others by keeping my phone silent or turned off during class, keeping my voice down in common areas, and refraining from unnecessary chatter.
  • Meditation is not a substitute for medical treatment or consultation with a licensed physician.
  • I acknowledge that I may experience any physical, mental, or emotional upheaval, which may arise due to the life I have lived, unrelated to this meditation, and I will immediately consult with a helper.
  • In the event of any physical injury or emotional pain in connection with my participation in this meditation, I shall waive all claims against the Center and its helpers, volunteers, and affiliates.
  • I shall keep the meditation method confidential and shall not disclose it to a non-member.
  • I shall not record the meditation sessions or any related lectures or consultations.
  • A helper, at his or her discretion, reserves the right to cancel the membership of a student at the Center.
  • All dues paid are non-refundable and shall be paid on time.

3. Who can attend

You must be 18 or older to book on your own. Under-18s are welcome when a parent or guardian arranges it and takes responsibility for them. We welcome people of any age, background, religion or belief system, and we ask the same courtesy of everyone in the room.

4. Booking sessions

Sessions run one hour on the hour during our open hours and appointments are required. You can book by phone, by message, through our online calendar, or — for members — in our app.

Please tell us if you cannot make a booked slot, so someone else can use it. We may decline future bookings for repeated no-shows.

We may need to change or cancel a session occasionally. If we do, we will tell you as early as we can and find you another time.

5. Free consultation

The first consultation is free and carries no obligation. It is a conversation about whether the method suits you, not a commitment to anything that follows.

6. Membership and payment

Current membership options and prices are on our membership page and form part of these terms. In summary:

  • The monthly plan is charged once per month.
  • The yearly plan is charged monthly for a 12-month term and is set up in person.
  • Prices are in US dollars and may change. Any change is announced before it takes effect, and existing members are told directly.

Membership is personal to you and cannot be shared or transferred. Unused sessions have no cash value.

Cancellation, holds and refunds

  • All dues paid are non-refundable and must be paid on time.
  • An annual membership can only be cancelled after two months from the registration date.
  • Membership can be put on hold for up to one month, once per year.

7. The member app

Members get access to our booking app. Your login is yours alone — do not share it. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access. We may suspend access if the app is misused, and access ends when your membership ends.

8. Conduct at the center and online

The center is a shared quiet space. We ask everyone to:

  • treat other people and guides with respect,
  • keep phones silent during sessions,
  • not record or photograph sessions or other people without their permission,
  • not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs,
  • keep private what other people share in the room.

We may ask someone to leave, and may end a membership without refund of unused time, if this is not respected.

9. Online sessions

Live sessions run on Zoom. You need your own device and internet connection; we cannot guarantee a session against your connection dropping. Do not record online sessions or share the meeting link with people who are not attending.

10. This website

The text, photographs, logo and design on this site belong to Federal Way Meditation, apart from third-party content that is clearly theirs. You may read, print and share pages for your own use. Please do not republish our content commercially, or use our name or logo to suggest we endorse something, without asking.

The meditation method taught here was established by Woo Myung and is taught at centers worldwide. Its associated books, materials and names remain the property of their respective owners.

We do our best to keep information accurate, but schedules, prices and events change. If something on the page and something we tell you in person disagree, ask us — we will confirm which is right.

11. Other companies' services

This site links to and embeds services run by other companies — a booking calendar, video players, maps, video calling. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your data. Their own terms apply. See our Privacy Policy for the list.

12. Limits on our responsibility

You take part in meditation sessions voluntarily and at your own risk. To the fullest extent Washington law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim connected with these terms or your sessions is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site or attend sessions after a change means you accept the updated version.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts in King County, Washington.
